CBSE board exam 2021

CBSE board exam 2021 not to be cancelled, likely in July, Pokhriyal to share format and exam dates on June 1

As per the final decision taken on the Class 12 CBSE board exam 2021, the exam will be held and most likely in July. Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal will share more details, the format, and the CBSE Class 12 board exam dates on June 1.

he CBSE board exam 2021 will not be cancelled and the exam will be most likely held in July like last year amidst Covid protocols, sources confirmed the decision taken at the high-level meeting today between the Centre and the states which is now over.

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal will share more information about format and also the CBSE Class 12 board exam dates on June 1.

The option of holding board exams in 19 major subjects was discussed and found support from many states. For other subjects, a different way will be found for evaluation such as internal assessments.

CHECK THESE OUT (CBSE board exam 2021)

The states have been asked to provide their views on the options in the coming week. A detailed statement will be issued soon.

The decision was taken after more than a month of uncertainty regarding the conduct of the Class 12 CBSE board exam 2021.

Students, teachers and parents had regularly taken to Twitter calling for the cancellation of the Class 12 board exams. Because of the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the second wave, especially of younger people and even children.

Who all attended the meeting?

The high-level meeting conducted on Sunday was chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. In attendance were Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Minister of Women and Child Smriti Zubin Irani, and Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar.

Also present were the education ministers of all states, and the education secretaries and chairpersons of the state examination boards.

Besides, the union education minister had asked teachers, students, parents and others to share their valuable suggestions regarding the board exams and other exams on his Twitter handle.

As Ramesh Pokhriyal said, this is because PM Narendra Modi asked for “wide consultations” with everyone before a final decision was taken on the CBSE board exam 2021.

CBSE Class 10th results: Schools can now submit marks by June 30 to the board

CBSE 10th result 2021: The date for the declaration of the result was to be done by June 20, but now the results will also be delayed.

CBSE 10th result 2021:

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday extended the last date for schools to submit students’ marks to the board. Earlier, the finalisation of results by schools was to be done by May 25, and the marks were to be submitted to CBSE by June 5. But now, the date to submit marks has been extended till June 30.

The board released an official notice on its website. Around 18 lakh class 10 students will be subject to this system of assessment.

“Delhi government had written to the CBSE to extend the deadline to submit marks and we had provided them with the required flexibility. But, we are noticing constant disturbance across the country due to COVID-19 and it is only logical to extend the deadline and not risk stakeholders’ lives,” Sanyam Bhardwaj, controller of examination, CBSE told indianexpress.com.

The date for the declaration of the result was to be done by June 20, but now the class 10th results will also be delayed.

“Since we have already released guidelines for class 11 admissions, schools are free to start online classes for the students. There will be a slight delay in declaring the class 10 results, but it is not going to impact the students’ academic cycle,” Bhardwaj added.

The basic break-up of marks provided by the board is as follows — 20 marks based on internal assessment, which has already been conducted by most schools with marks already uploaded, 10 marks for periodic/unit test, 30 for half-yearly/mid-term examinations, and 40 marks for pre-board examinations.

Cyclone Tauktae

Cyclone Tauktae Live Updates: Cyclonic Storm could reach Gujarat by May 17 evening

Cyclone Tauktae Live Updates: Under the influence of Cyclone Tauktae, extremely heavy rainfall is being experienced in Kerala, Karnataka, Goa as well as parts of Maharashtra.

#Cyclone #Tauktae Live Updates:

Gale-force winds, heavy rainfall and high tidal waves swept the coastal belt of Kerala, Karnataka and Goa as Cyclone Tauktae hurtled northwards towards Gujarat on Sunday, leaving four people dead, damaging hundreds of houses, uprooting electricity poles and trees and forcing evacuation.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Tauktae which has taken the form of a “very severe cyclonic storm” is likely to intensify further during the next 24 hours and reach the Gujarat coast on Monday evening.

“The Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “Tauktae” (pronounced as Tau’Te) over eastcentral Arabian Sea moved north-northwestwards with a speed of about 19 kmph during past 06 hours and lay centred at 2030 hours IST of today, the 16th May, 2021 over eastcentral Arabian Sea,” the IMD said.

An estimated 1.5 lakh people are being shifted from low-lying coastal areas in Gujarat while 54 teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed in the state.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the preparedness for Cyclone Tauktae in Gujarat, Maharashtra and two Union territories on Sunday and “specifically” stressed that all health facilities, including those for COVID-19 treatment, falling in the affected areas should be secured along with the patients. At a video-conference with the chief ministers of Gujarat and Maharashtra and the administrators of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Shah also advised them to ensure adequate stocks of all essential medicines and supplies in the hospitals, keeping in view a likely disruption in the movement of vehicles, a statement issued by the Union home ministry said.

Four deaths have been reported from Karnataka’s Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga districts in cyclone-related incidents.

The water level in many dams across Kerala showed a rising trend after heavy rains in the catchment areas, prompting authorities to sound an alert.

Israel’s Iron Dome rocket defence system

Israel’s Iron Dome rocket defence system : Explained

The Iron Dome aerial defence system just intercepted a Hamas Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) that crossed from Gaza into Israel, Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) said around 1 p.m. IST on Friday on social media.

IDF said on Thursday that in the last three days, Hamas has fired more than 1,500 rockets from Gaza all the way into Israel.

The night sky over Israel has been ablaze with interceptor missiles from Iron Dome shooting down the incoming rockets in the sky.

What is Iron Dome?

Iron Dome is a multi-mission system capable of intercepting rockets, artillery, mortars and Precision Guided Munitions like very short range air defence (V-SHORAD) systems .

As well as aircraft, helicopters and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) over short ranges of up to 70 km. It is an all-weather system and can engage multiple targets simultaneously and be deployed over land and sea.

Iron Dome is manufactured by Rafael Advanced Defence Systems Limited and has been in service with Israeli Air Force since 2011. The radar system was developed by Elta. Its development was prompted after a series of rocket attacks on Israel by Hezbollah and Hamas in the 2000s. In the 2006 Lebanon war, around 4,000 rockets were fired on the northern parts of Israel resulting in the death of about 44 Israeli civilians.

Evacuation of around 250,000 citizens following the development of the system was taken up.

How does it work?

An Iron Dome battery consists of a battle management control unit, a detection and tracking radar and a firing unit of three vertical launchers, with 20 interceptor missiles each. The interceptor missile uses a proximity fuse to detonate the target warhead in the air. The Iron Dome is deployed in a layered defence along with David’s Sling and Arrow missile defence system which are designed for medium- and long-range threats.

According to a 2013 research paper by Yiftah S. Shapur titled ‘Lessons from the Iron Dome’ in Military and Strategic Affairs, one of the system’s important advantages is its ability to identify the anticipated point of impact of the threatening rocket, to calculate whether it will fall in a built-up area or not, and to decide on this basis whether or not to engage it. This prevents unnecessary interception of rockets that will fall in open areas and thus not cause damage, the paper states.

The system has intercepted thousands of rockets so far and, according to Rafael, its success rate is over 90%. The I-DOME is the mobile variant with all components on a single truck and C-DOME is the naval version for deployment on ships.

What are the limitations of the system?

The system has performed very well so far. However, the system can see limitations when it is overwhelmed with a barrage of projectiles. “The system has a ‘saturation point’. It is capable of engaging a certain (unpublished) number of targets at the same time, and no more. Additional rockets fired in a crowded salvo could succeed in breaching defences and cause damage,” Mr. Shapur says in the paper.

Several assessments suggest that Hamas is developing mitigating strategies including lowering the trajectories of the projectiles while also continuing to accumulate thousands of rockets with improved precision. According to Mr. Shapur, one of the possible limitations is the system’s inability to cope with very short range threats as estimates put the Iron Dome’s minimum interception range at 5-7 kilometres. The other factor is the cost of interception is high. The cost of the interceptor missile is about $40,000-50,000, according to Mr. Shapur.
